Per capita income rose 10.2% -- prices did too

August 10, 1981

America's per capita income rose 10.2 percent last year, raising the national average to $9.521, the Commerce Department reports. But the report also added that prices increased 10.2 percent during the same period. Still, the increase in per capita income equaled or exceeded the national increase in prices in 25 states.

Alaska and Connecticut have the highest per capita incomes, with $12,790 and yearly.
