Dallas Green, manager of the defending world champion Philadelphia Phillies, was also fined and suspended by National League President Chub Feeney for an incident involving umpire Steve Fields.
Green stormed fromt he dugout in a game against Atlanta when Fields ruled that Phillies' shortstop Larry Bowa had failed to touch second base on a double play attempt. Green, who bumped Fields several times while protesting the call, later told reporters: "Five thousand times in a situation like that the fielder touches the bag. Five thousand other times he doesn't. But 10,000 times the runner is called out. And my objection is that umpires should react to things the same way all the time."
