Canadian air controllers say US hired unfit people

More than 100 controllers who are not medically certified under the US aviation rules are manning towers at American airports, the Canadian air traffic controllers charge.
William Robertson, president of the Canadian Air Traffic Controllers Association, said 128 controllers, replacing those dismissed after they walked off their jobs, did not meet fitnees standards set by the US Federal Aviation Administration. Some wer previously disqualified on medical grounds while others went never qualified, but all had either psychological or physical disorders that made them unfit for the demanding job, he charged.
