Canada wants US to join immediate acid rain drive

Canadian officials want to launch an immediate attack on acid rain, but the Environmental Protection Agency says the problem needs more study. A Canadian delegation argued before a House subcommittee that the problem will only get worse if action is delayed. They called for a joint US-Canadian program -- similar to the successful effort to clean up the Great Lakes.
