The Nuclear Regulatory Commission scheduled a secret meeting Wednesday on earthquake design problems at the Diablo Canyon 1 reactor in California, but would not confirm a published report that the reactor's license will be suspended.
The Washington Post reports that the commission has tentatively decided to suspend the reactor's license until seismic design problems are corrected and an independent commission verifies the correction.
Since the licensing vote, the commission learned that blueprints were improperly used in determining seismic stress factors and incorrect data used in earthquake design.
