Large chunk of Polaroid bought by conglomerate

Gulf & Western Industries Inc., a large, diversified corporation, has bought more than 5 percent of Polaroid Corporation stock. The total purchase price of 1.9 million common shares was $38.7 million. For a story on the future of Polaroid, see Page 11.
