The number of Afghan refugees in Pakistan has risen to about 2.5 million and the country is now the ''largest refugee theater in the world,'' a senior Pakistani refugee official said.
Sheikh Abdullah, commissioner for Afghan refugees in Peshawar, said about 20, 000 refugees were still crossing into Pakistan each month from Afghanistan, where Soviet troops are backing Marxist President Babrak Karmal against Afghan rebels.
