French join Egypt in call for a Palestinian state

France expressed support for the Palestine Liberation Organization and joined Egypt in calling for the establishment of a Palestinian state and the inclusion of the PLO in the peace process. But in outlining the French position during a visit to Cairo, visiting French Foreign Minister Claude Cheysson said France would not extend diplomatic recognition to the PLO.
