4,170 interned in Poland, justice minister reports

Polish Justice Minister Sylwester Zawadzki said that more than 4,170 people, including 298 women, are interned under martial law in Poland, according to a government newspaper.

Professor Zawadzki said that 1,300 people had been released since the military crackdown Dec. 13 and that those still interned were being humanely treated, despite Western reports of severe conditions in some camps.
