Mail sorter shows left is right too

Postal Service employee Robert Green can once again sort mail with his left hand - four months after being told he must do it the ''right'' way or lose his job.

Mr. Green was told he had to hold the letters with his left hand and sort them with his right under a Postal Service program called ''Back to Basics,'' aimed at increasing manual production. But his union, along with Lefthanders International, put its foot down (presumably the left one) and demanded a change in the regulations.

Green says he has now been told that Postmaster General William F. Bolger will change the rule, allowing postal clerks to sort mail with either hand. A new manual will be coming out in a few months.
