Officer facing spy charge is ruled to have immunity

The US Court of Military Appeals ruled 2 to 1 Monday that an Air Force officer, 2nd Lt. Christopher Cooke, cannot be court-martialed for espionage because he was offered immunity from prosecution if he cooperated with authorities.

Lieutenant Cooke, the former deputy commander of a Titan II missile silo in Kansas, was charged by the Air Force with passing secrets to the Soviets.
