The Justice Department said it is investigating the activities of a US-based group called the National Liberation Army that claimed responsibility for blowing up six bridges in Nicaragua. A leader of the group, which opposes Nicaragua's Sandinista government, issued a statement this week claiming responsibility for destroying the bridges.
Nicaragua has charged Washington with responsibility for blowing up the bridges near its border with Honduras.
