April 5, 1982
Paris
Two obscure Lebanon-based organizations claimed responsibility for the murder of a senior attache at the Israeli Embassy in Paris, while police were searching for the young woman who shot and killed Yacov Barsimantov. Israel later said the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) was probably behind the killing. In Beirut a spokesman for the PLO denied responsibility for the attack.
