China's space program is off the launch pad and chasing the space superpowers.
Like the Soviet Union and the United States, China can soft land a satellite. And within the next two years, Chinese scientists hope to develop larger rockets that would enable them to launch a geostationary communications satellite.
China's main problems now have to do with developing the electronic control systems. Chinese technology in this area is believed to lag about 10 years behind the UU and Soviet Union.
