Soviet publication urges Iran, Iraq to make peace

A Soviet magazine urged Iran and Iraq to settle their differences at the conference table, saying their war was of direct benefit only to the United States.

The foreign policy weekly New Times said the war has been exploited by Washington as a pretext to increase its presence in the Persian Gulf region and has served to deflect attention from infusions of US military aid to Israel.
