NATO in crisis, says congressional study

The North Atlantic Treaty Organization is suffering its most severe internal crisis in many years, which may lead to a reassessment of the NATO alliance, according to a study by the Congressional Research Service.

One reason for the crisis is a belief in Europe that US leadership no longer is contributing effectively to Western security, the report said.
