Fire near Disneyland strikes 300 homes

Fires whipped by desert winds of 50 miles an hour destroyed or damaged 300 homes on the eastern outskirts of Los Angeles, forced the evacuation of 2,000 residents, and injured at least eight people, police said. The biggest fire was only a mile from the giant Disneyland amusement park in Anaheim.
