Ohio Rep. John Ashbrook -- 'man of courage'

Conservative Republican Congressman John Ashbrook of Ohio, who passed on Saturday, was a Navy veteran who practiced law, published newspapers in the Johnstown, Ohio, area, and served in the Ohio Legislature before being elected to Congress in 1960. He was a candidate for the Republican nomination for the Ohio Senate seat held by Democratic Sen. Howard Metzenbaum. President Reagan praised Mr. Ashbrook as ''a man of courage and principle.''
