Warsaw
Poland announced it is expelling two American diplomats caught receiving documents from a Polish scientist previously interned under martial law.
The official Polish news agency PAP said the Foreign Ministry ordered John Zerolis, the scientific attache, and James Daniel Howard, first secretary for cultural affairs, to leave the country.
The statement said security agents detained Dr. Ryszard Herczynski as he handed to Mr. Zerolis and Mr. Howard ''materials against the interests of the Polish People's Republic.'' It gave no further details of what was passed, but said it was recovered by the security agents.
