Autos, plants in Athens are curbed to cut smog

The Greek government has ordered a total ban on private cars in the center of Athens and a production cut at factories to reduce pollution caused by a cloud of smog hanging over Athens for the last two days.

Industrial pollution in Athens, where about one-third of Greece's 9 million population and half its industry are concentrated, continues tocause serious damage to the ancient monuments on the Athens Acropolis.
