Israel treatens to attack Jordan before arms arrive

Israel, stepping up its campaign against proposed US arms sales to Jordan, threatened to attack the country before it could pose a threat with new American weapons.
The statement, coming from Israeli Foreign Minister Yitzhak Shamir, was the strongest yet in the Israeli campaign against as yet unofficial US plans to sell mobile Hawk antiaircraft missiles and F-16 warplanes to Jordan.
