Argentina is finding the Soviet Union a tough grain customer.

With a new crop just harvested, Argentine officials headed for Moscow with visions of big sales - and came away without any new commitments. The problem is far larger than disruptions caused by the Falklands war. Instead, when President Reagan ended the Carter grain embargo, he ruled out any selective agricultural embargoes in the future. This in effect turned the US into a more dependable supplier. Also, the Falklands war has shown up the Argentine government as unpredictable, and therefore a less-than-ideal trading partner.
