Since Israel invaded Lebanon, hundreds of Lebanese civilians have disappeared , apparently to Israeli interrogation centers, the World Council of Churches said.
A council team just returned from Lebanon said it had firsthand reports that Israeli troops had detained over 1,000 suspected sympathizers of the Palestine Liberation Organization in south Lebanon. The team also charged in a report that Israel was needlessly obstructing relief operations in Lebanon, delaying shipping, documentation, and the unloading and distribution of aid.
