Faulty flight recording gives few clues to crash

Only about 1 minute of a 30-minute recording of cockpit conversation has been salvaged from the malfunctioning flight recorder on Pan Am flight 759, a National Transportation Board spokesman said.

Even without the recording, the spokesman said, investigators would be able to piece together what happened to the plane by using physical evidence, eyewitness accounts, and other evidence.
