Begin may have buttress for parliamentary coalition

The way was cleared for Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin to strengthen his shaky governing coalition with the decision Wednesday of an extremist nationalist party to join the government.

The Tehiya (Rebirth) Party, which opposed the Camp David peace agreements and tried violently to prevent the final withdrawal from Sinai, decided to join the Begin coalition after a 29-to-7 vote by its Central Committee. This addition would bolster by three votes the slim majority wielded by the government in the Knesset, and it might enable Mr. Begin to avoid new elections until the end of his term in office in 1985.
