Tobacco-price law needs review clause: Eagleton

Sen. Thomas F. Eagleton (D) of Missouri says the tobacco price-support law should be scrutinized every four years, like other farm-support programs.
So while the Senate debates an industry-supported tobacco reform bill, he plans to offer an amendment requiring the periodic review. Unlike federal law on price supports for crops like wheat, corn, and cotton, which are rewritten every four years, tobacco price supports operate under a permanent law almost unchanged since the depression.
