Maybe we should've stayed home!
A soccer tour that tried to break an international sport boycott of South Africa has wound up reinforcing the boycott. The tour was cut short at the halfway point after strong local black opposition. Under pressure from black church, professional, community, and labor groups, the three main black South African teams refused to play. The loss of local ''stars'' cut the crowds so drastically the tour was abandoned.
In the end, the tour sent the message worldwide that as far as black leaders here are concerned, South Africa deserves continuing boycott.
