Condemning American foreign policy throughout the globe, China said the Reagan administration is insensitive to third world concerns and naively blames the Soviet Union for all the world's problems.
The harsh criticism in the official People's Daily effectively quashed Washington reports that a US-China agreement was near on solving the dispute over US arms to Taiwan. The article accused the United States of meddling in internal Chinese affairs and revived the threat of a downgrading of ties between Washington and Peking.
