An Aug. 11 article in the Monitor incorrectly referred to the American-Israel Public Affairs Committee as ''a registered lobby for a foreign government.'' In fact, the committee represents a coalition of American Jewish organizations interested in lobbying for positive relations between Israel and the United States. These organizations and their individual members, and not the government of Israel, provide direction for the committee. Funding comes exclusively from American Jewish sources.
