To rid white paint on brick, spread on paint remover
September 17, 1982
Q. What will remove white paint from brick walls? Helen Dooley Franklin Square, N.Y.
A. Remove those unsightly white splotches on the brick with paint remover. Apply it liberally with one swipe of the brush rather than a back-and-forth motion. Be sure to wear gloves and protective eyeglasses.
Follow by washing the brick with clear water and a scrub brush. It's hard work and may test one's patience, but it can be done.
Avoid sand or water blasting in your effort to remove the paint, because brick should not have its exposed surface damaged. For the same reason, use a fiber, not wire, scrub brush.
