Benjamin Sasway, the first American since the Vietnam war to be charged with refusing to register for military service, was sentenced to 21/2 years in jail Monday.
Sasway, a college student who became a focal point for civil liberties groups challenging President Reagan's revival of the Selective Service Act, immediately announced he would appeal.
