Aetna grant blends policy study

Hartford, Conn.
The Aetna Life and Casualty Foundation has promised $1 million to Harvard University to create a program of public policy and corporate management.
The gift is to Harvard's John F. Kennedy School of Government, and is one of the largest Aetna grants ever.
The program is designed to be a neutral ground for business, labor, and government leaders to tackle major national issues. It is based on the premise that ''in American society no major public purpose can be achieved by government acting alone,'' said Graham T. Allison, dean of the Kennedy School.
