Israeli investigators call witnesses to massacre

The Israeli commission investigating the slaughter of Palestinians at Beirut refugee camps called for the first testimony from non-Israelis.

And in a dramatic 90-minute hearing Sunday, the commander of Israeli forces in Lebanon, Maj. Gen. Amir Drori, contradicted previous testimony by Defense Minister Ariel Sharon that no one foresaw the danger of a slaughter in the Phalange operation. The foreign testifiers - two doctors and a nurse - worked in the refugee camps. The nurse said she saw bulldozers near the camps and was told they were covering up bodies.
