Using peaches as a garnish
November 12, 1982
Mulled peaches are a delicious accompaniment to meat on a crisp fall day. Heat sliced peaches and syrup from a 16-ounce can with 1/4 cup chutney.
Stir in a dash of cinnamon, a dash of nutmeg, and a tablespoon of butter. Spoon the hot sauce over roast pork, chicken, or ham.
For a festive garnish for the Thanksgiving turkey this year, combine chopped roasted almonds or walnuts with cranberry-orange relish; spoon into well-drained peach halves and place them around the turkey along with sprigs of parsley.
Pumpkin pie is a perfect dessert for fall. It looks pretty and tastes delicious when topped with whipped cream and slices of canned peaches.
