At least five people were reported killed in a bomb blast in this mainly Druze town just south of Beirut, and two more died in a factional clash following the blast.
The incidents signaled that Christian-Moslem fighting, which has raged in the mountains southeast of Beirut, has now approached to within five miles of the capital.
In a separate incident, a car bomb exploded in the Aramoun village south of Beirut, killing a child and wounding four people, security sources said.
