Reagan decides on silos in Wyoming for 100 MXs

Washington
President Reagan proposed deploying 100 controversial MX nuclear missiles in superhard silos in Wyoming to meet what he called a relentless Soviet military buildup.
He said the deployment plan, called ''dense pack,'' was aimed at improving the credibility of the US nuclear deterrent and encouraging the Kremlin to negotiate meaningful arms-control measures. Defense Secretary Caspar Weinberger estimated the dense-pack option could cost $25 billion.
