Chrysler may look outside for parts lost in strike

Chrysler Corporations's chief bargainer, Thomas Miner, said the company will turn to outside suppliers to keep its US plants running if the United Automobile Workers strike in Canada is prolonged. Mr. Miner's comments came on the second day of resumed contract talks.

The Wall Street Journal reported Chrysler has been working around the clock since the Canadian strike began Nov. 5 to duplicate the tooling needed to produce the US parts that had come from Canada. Chrysler apparently expects to finish the tooling work as early as this weekend, the newspaper said.
