Quake kills 700 in North Yemen

Nearly 700 people were killed and more than 1,000 injured in a 40-second earthquake here that registered 3 and 4 points on the Richter scale, Sanaa radio said Tuesday.
The tremor's worst damage was done in Dhamar Province, 60 miles from the capital. Some 135 villages were damaged and 11 were completely destroyed in these areas, the radio said.
