Vietnamese forces launched a major attack on Kampuchean guerrillas and refugees in western Kampuchea (Cambodia) with artillery and rockets tipped with chemical warheads, killing at least 15 civilians, Thai and Western sources said.
The attack was reportedly a Vietnamese bid to recapture a strategic base seized by rebels two weeks ago. Western relief sources at the border said 15 Kampuchean civilians were killed in the attack.
