Olympics to weigh adding tennis and soccer pros

Radical rule changes that could permit highly paid tennis and soccer stars to compete in the Olympic games will be considered by the executive board of the International Olympic Committee at a four-day meeting to open here today (Jan. 18).

After an absence of 64 years, tennis will return as an Olympic sport at the 1988 games in Seoul. A International Tennis Federation meeting in Mexico four months ago set out proposals for an Olympic tournament open to all players, with eligibility based on performances in the men's and women's Grand Prix circuits and in Davis Cup and Federation Cup competition.
