Polish government halts UPI operations

The Polish government ordered the shutdown of United Press International operations in Poland Thursday. The Foreign Ministry said UPI operations will be suspended until a new correspondent is accredited to replace expelled UPI reporter Ruth Gruber in Warsaw and the Polish Press Agency (PAP) in Washington resumes operation. The State Department expelled PAP correspondent Stanislaw Glabinski Jan. 18 in response to the action taken against Miss Gruber.
