The Justice Department does not plan to prosecute EPA head Anne Gorsuch. Ms. Gorsuch was held in contempt of Congress in December because she refused to release secret documents to a House panel looking into toxic waste cleanup arrangements. The move leaves unresolved the confrontation between the executive and legislative branches.
Meanwhile, the controversial official in charge of the EPA toxic waste cleanup unit, Rita Lavelle, was fired Monday by the White House.
