Presbyterians will reunite

Divided since the Civil War, the northern- and southern-based branches of the Presbyterian Church voted to reunite, making their congregation the nation's fifth largest.
Monitor correspondent Robert M. Press reports that the deciding vote came in the same Georgia Presbytery where the southern branch voted to split off in 1861 over questions of states' rights and slavery. The actual merger takes place in June.
