Lockheed gets OK to sue US for Vietnam crash cost

The Supreme Court ruled 7-2 that Lockheed Aircraft Corporation can try to make the government reimburse it for damages it paid in connection with Operation Babylift in Vietnam.

The court, however, did not rule that the government must repay the company for its payments to survivors of federal workers killed in a 1975 plane crash near Saigon. A day earlier, the court ruled 7-2 that a motorist's refusal to take a blood alcohol test can be used as evidence against him in court. This gives states another weapon to use in convicting drunk drivers, who are blamed for more than 26,000 traffic deaths yearly.
