US proposes new terms for using Israeli war data

March 3, 1983

The United States proposed a simplified agreement with Israel for sharing information about Soviet-built weapons, the Pentagon said. The US had rejected an earlier version, because of what it said were unreasonable demands by Israel in return for its information on how US-supplied arms performed against Soviet-made Arab weapons in the Lebanon war. The administration expects the new plan will have a sympathetic reception in Israel, said spokesman Henry Catto.
