OPEC officials meeting to settle output snags

March 11, 1983

OPEC ministers postponed a planned third round of crisis talks amid indications they have run into snags on sharing out oil production. Ecuadorean Oil Minister Gustavo Galindo said the scheduled full meeting of the 13-member Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries would now be held today (March 11 ). The move followed a day of talks by a small ministerial working group on assigning OPEC's dwindling share of world production among member states. Meanwhile, a growing chorus of experts says the world won't run out of oil anytime soon.
