US specialty steel hurt, trade commission rules
March 25, 1983
Washington
The International Trade Commission ruled that the specialty steel industry has been injured by rising imports. The decision paves the way for possible import restrictions that could be imposed by President Reagan. It is also expected to give the US more bargaining power in talks with other steel producing nations, now in a preliminary stage, to develop better international rules for specialty steel trade. The commission will hold a hearing April 5 on what import relief to recommend to President Reagan.
