Police interrogated former Solidarity leader Lech Walesa for the third time in seven days. And the government hinted that he could be held responsible for any violent demonstrations on May 1.
''They wanted to give me a hard time,'' Mr. Walesa told reporters after he emerged from the red-brick Gdansk militia headquarters, ''but I am becoming better and better at refusing to answer their questions.'' Following an earlier release, Walesa said he and his wife, Danuta, would stay home May 1 and not participate in demonstrations being organized by the Solidarity underground.
