Kampuchean resistance groups, battered by a fierce Vietnamese offensive, plan to regain the initiative during the rainy season starting this month. Leaders of three major guerrilla factions, who met near this border town during the weekend, say the rains will turn the Kampuchean (Cambodian) jungles into a quagmire, bogging down the heavy Vietnamese tanks.
The guerrilla coalition, recognized by the United Nations, hopes to retake strongholds lost in the Vietnamese offensive early last month.
