Arthur Miller's play ''Death of a Salesman'' won a standing ovation from its Chinese audience after its premier in Peking. The audience reacted emotionally to the play, the first to be directed in China by an American. Said director Miller: ''I believe there's a universal human being, some underlying, profound human character, which is disguised by different cultures.''
